As part of Catholic Schools week, Brescia House School once again teamed up with Pick 'n Pay Epsom Downs to serve freshly baked Chelsea Buns to passers-by. The Brescia House School girls braved the early morning chill to greet pedestrians and offer them a delicious, warm treat. Thank you to Pick n Pay Epsom Downs, whose staff came in at 3am to bake the buns. Pick 'n Pay also matched Brescia's donations one-for-one. It was a wonderful morning seeing our community come together and serving each other.

The Primary Schools Foundation Phase girls celebrated Catholic Schools Week yesterday in the Chapel, the girls made beautiful Yesterday Today Tomorrow flowers representing the Theme for the Year : Towards Tomorrow Together in faith. In creating the flowers the girls were taught that although change is inevitable, God remains the same and we must take root in Him and grow in God's love.

The first Inter-School General Knowledge Quiz took place at Christ Church Preparatory School and College, Midrand. We had two teams and the girls who took part were Jessica Marais, Elihle Ngcukana, Kaylee Botha, Aruna Govender, Kiara Reddy, Tamanda Nkgadima, Georgia Moody and Raquel Matthews.

It was an enjoyable and noisy afternoon. The girls left with more knowledge than when they arrived and that is the main objective! The next Inter-School General Knowledge Quiz will be held on Tuesday 9th July and will be hosted by Beaulieu Prep and Grade 6 will be participating.

Many thanks to all the parents who came to support our teams.

Last Friday 17th May was the third round of the Skoobs High School Book Quiz known as 'Bragging Writes'. Our team 'Lady Lit' made up of Minana Mudoni, Kirsten Veitch and Josephine Harty, made it to second place. This is wonderful as it means we take part in the next round to be held on Friday 20th September at Skoobs Book Shop, Montecasino. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening with a most engaging Quiz Queen, Natasha Sutherland. It was evident that the girls were having a good time while conferring with each other.

Brescia House School won the Catholic Schools Hockey Trophy for the third year in a row! The first team won all their games on Friday and Saturday and proceeded to the final.

'It was like déjà vu,' their coaches Kuda and Simba Chagweda said, 'as we have played Holy Rosary in the final both in 2017 and 2018.'

The match, which was 20 minutes long, was a thrilling back and forth game. Once again, it ended in a draw leading to the nail-biting penalty shoot-out. After simple but impressive goals by Josephine Harvey and Georgia-Cate Colyn, Brescia House School was leading with 2 goals to 1. There was one final save by the Brescia keeper, Heather Wimberley, to take the team to victory.
