Lighting of the Advent wreath

The Grade 4 Multifaith Classes have enjoyed learning about the symbolism of light in various world religions. As this week is the first week of the season of Advent, this provided a perfect opportunity to learn about the traditional lighting of the candles on the Advent wreath over the four Sundays leading up to and in preparation for the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas Day – a tradition that is carried out in Christian families around the world. The girls listened to Bible readings and reread the much loved Nativity story from a selection of resources. Each reading was accompanied by a time of reflection and the lighting of the four candles in a specific order. The Grade 4 Multifaith class wishes the Brescia House School families a most blessed season of Advent filled with hope, faith, peace and joy as is represented by the four candles on the Advent wreath.
