Day of Reconciliation
16 December is the Day of Reconciliation and a public holiday in South Africa. The holiday came into effect in 1995 after the end of apartheid, with the intention of fostering reconciliation and national unity for our country. Our flag largely represents peace and unity, with the ‘Y’ shape symbolizing the convergence of diverse elements of the country and the journey ahead towards unity.
