Good Friday
Good Friday commemorates Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross; it is traditionally a day of sorrow, penance, and fasting. The Stations of the Cross allows one the opportunity to walk the journey as one of the crowd who were witness to Jesus’ condemnation to die on the cross, and his excruciatingly painful walk, carrying the heavy cross, to the place where he would be nailed to the cross to die.
On this Good Friday of Holy Week 2021, the words of Saint Angela Merici, foundress of the Ursuline Order and patroness of Brescia House School, remind us of the “good and holy works” that come from the symbolic “tree”, the wooden cross on which Jesus gave his life for us to have life. As a Brescia House School family, we join together in our sorrow, our acts of sacrifice, our removal of the distractions from our lives, so that we can, as a community, look forward with faith and hope.
