Grade 11 Geography journey to Magaliesberg
On the 20th of May 2021, the grade 11 Geography class embarked on their journey to Magaliesberg to observe the Cuestas firsthand. Our investigation began as we travelled to the top of the mountain in a cable car. Once we reached the top, we were astonished by the breathtaking view of the Hartbeespoort dam, the residential area, and the mountain range. We walked along the top of the mountain to observe the cuesta to our enhance knowledge. A cuesta is a mountain made up of tilted layers of resistant quartzite and less-resistant shale. We were able to identify the tip of the mountain which is known as the crest, the dip slope which is the smooth and gentle slope of the mountain and a scarp slope which is a steep slope. After our educational outlook on the mountains around us we ended off the day by indulging in some delicious pizza served with ice cold soft drinks. This remarkable trip benefitted us by experiencing our studies with our own eyes. (By from T Gartland and W Cobbinah)
