Sister Jeanette Essey: Golden Jubilee – January 2021
Brescia House School paid tribute to a very special lady at the Primary School and High School Assemblies, our very dear Sr Jeanette Essey.
Sr Jeanette celebrated her Golden Jubilee this year in January. This is in recognition of an incredible 50 years of service, commitment, and dedication as an Ursuline Sister.
Sr Jeanette made her first vows on the 3rd of January in 1971.
Sr Jeanette attended an Ursuline school and she completed her schooling at St Ursula’s in Krugersdorp. She has since served the Ursuline schools in many roles, as a Board Member, a teacher and she was the Headmistress at Brescia House School, for the years 1989 – 1991.
We congratulate Sr Jeanette on her true example of Serviam and the many years of love, commitment, ministry, and service.
Sr Jeanette continues to work tirelessly on retreats, school, and church projects, and she leads and guides the Ursuline Associates. The Ursuline Associates consists of women and men who seek to deepen their spirituality and their relationship and friendship with God. They serve other people in the way that God calls them, and they build up a community among themselves and beyond, working towards peace and reconciliation.
We extend our deep gratitude to Sr Jeanette for teaching us how to embrace the values of St Angela Merici, and for supporting and guiding us to grow spiritually through prayer and acts of service. Thank you, Sr Jeanette for being a true Ursuline model of unity, community, service, and love.
Sr Jeanette addressed the High School learners and their teachers at the Merici Assembly held on Monday, 1 February 2021. In her address, Sr Jeanette shared the most beautiful and inspirational account of the rewarding decision that she made 50 years ago to dedicate her life to the service of her Lord, and where this decision has led her over these years.
