PS Hour of Code
Hour of Code is a global movement to introduce coding. Our primary school learn coding throughout the year, but we participate in the Hour of Code activities to highlight the importance of coding. Next week it is Computer Science Education Week, which is held annually in the week of 9th December. This is the birthday of computer scientist Grace Hopper who made vital contributions to programming and software development. As our students are enjoying their holidays at this time, the primary school scheduled their #HourOfCode before school closed. From Grade R to 6, students completed a variety of coding activities designed to teach them coding skills such as sequencing, animation, and debugging. (Did you know, the term “bug” for an error in code was coined by Grace Hopper?) The classes were buzzing with fun and the students received their certificates for participating.
