Junior World Orienteering Championships
Sarah Wimberley, Brescia House School matric 2021, competed at the Junior World Orienteering Championships (JWOC) in Portugal in July 2022 representing South Africa. She was the only female in her team with four other males competitors. For the sprint event, Sarah placed 86th out of 150 competitors beating ladies from top nations such as Great Britain and Sweden. This was one of the best inaugural runs from a female South African at JWOC. Unfortunately, there were dangerous fires in Portugal at the time and therefore the remaining forest events were postponed and replaced with two unofficial relays. Our South African team created a mixed relay team with the Netherlands and the USA to compete in these races. Congratulations Sarah and thank you for flying the South African – and Brescia House School – flag high. #FitForLife
